The School of Media Studies, Garden City University (GCU), is poised to host a landmark event on 13th November 2025, marking a dual celebration that signifies both academic excellence and community engagement. The occasion will commemorate the successful completion of the students’ audio recording project “Vigyan ki Aawaaz” (Podcasting – Bangalore Chapter) and the official logo launch of Garden Vaani Community Radio—a visionary initiative designed to promote student-led communication and community storytelling.
The event will be graced by eminent personalities from the fields of media and science communication, including Dr. Rashmi Sharma, Head, Scientific Division, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India; Dr. R. Sreedher, acclaimed as the Father of Community Radio in India; and Mr. Ashish Tiwari, Secretary, Media & Community Foundation, Noida. Their presence will add depth and inspiration to the proceedings, highlighting the intersection of media, science, and community development.
Vigyan ki Aawaaz stands as a testament to the creative potential of GCU students, who have used podcasting as a powerful medium for science communication and public engagement. The project emphasizes how innovative storytelling can bridge the gap between scientific research and community awareness, making knowledge more accessible and relatable.
The launch of Garden Vaani Community Radio marks a major milestone in the university’s ongoing commitment to fostering inclusive, participatory, and socially relevant media practices. The station will serve as a dynamic platform for student expression, community dialogue, and local cultural exchange, embodying the spirit of “communication for development.”
The celebration will include interactive discussions, reflections on the evolution of community media, and a vision-sharing session that outlines the roadmap for Garden Vaani’s future initiatives. Faculty members, students, and community partners are invited to be part of this inspiring event, which not only honors student achievement but also reinforces GCU’s role as a hub for innovative, socially conscious communication.
