The Department of Hospitality Management and Catering Technology, Garden City University, successfully organized “Signature Bakes – Master Class on Bakery and Confectionery” on 4th and 5th February 2026 at the Bakery and Green House. The two-day workshop was designed to provide students with intensive hands-on training in classic and contemporary bakery and confectionery preparations, offering them an immersive and industry-oriented learning experience.
The master class focused on the preparation, presentation, and finishing of a range of internationally recognized desserts and baked products, including Cheesecake, Tres Leches Cake, Tiramisu, Panna Cotta, and Fancy Breads. Students were guided through every stage of production, from understanding ingredient functionality and precise measurements to mastering baking techniques, temperature control, texture balance, flavor profiling, and aesthetic plating. Emphasis was placed on maintaining hygiene standards, ensuring quality control, and following professional bakery practices aligned with current industry expectations.
The workshop was highly interactive, incorporating live demonstrations and guided practical sessions that encouraged active participation. Students gained valuable insights into contemporary dessert trends, professional finishing techniques, and bakery operations management. The event not only enhanced their technical skills but also boosted their creativity, confidence, and professional competence.
The primary purpose of organizing the master class was to strengthen students’ practical knowledge and technical expertise through experiential learning. It aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and real-world application, encourage innovation in baking, and prepare students to meet industry standards in the hospitality and food production sector.
