What is the process of placements at GCU?

‘Placements’ is one of the most important aspects for the students, parents as well as for the Institution. We at GCU consider placements as one of the by-products of all the efforts put during the entire tenure of any program that the students join.

Students in their pre-final year of graduation/post-graduation need to fill up the career advisory form. It is necessary for all students to fill up this form as it is used to gauge their career interests. There are three broad aspects to the career interests of students:

Industry Institute Partnership Cell

Garden City University-Industry Institute Partnership Cell (GCU-IIPC) is based on the Integrated and Inclusive Model, where both the industry and academia exchange knowledge, skills, expertise, infrastructure, and resources to create an ecosystem that benefits the industry & institute (the students).

IIPC plays a pivotal role in ensuring that every student at the university gets an opportunity to do an internship in reputed Companies and a job as well later before they graduate.

Through internship, IIPC aims to give an experiential learning opportunity that offers an invaluable chance for students to network and build professional connections before they even graduate. For some students, it is a stepping-stone to bonus opportunities within the same organization, including a full-time job.

The students are trained and prepared for their internships and placements from the very first semester, setting them up for success in the professional sphere.
The IIPC follows a systematic approach to facilitate progressive engagement with industries over the course of six semesters assessing them and training them to make them Industry ready and get their dream job even before they graduate.

Here is a calendar outlining the activities and processes carried out by the IIPC:

This progressive engagement with industries allows students to explore various career options, gain practical experience, and develop essential skills, ultimately increasing their employability and career prospects.

Campus Recruitment Drives & Job Fair:

The IIPC is in constant coordination with companies to schedule campus placement drives, where recruiters visit the university to conduct interviews and select candidates for job offers.
The IIPC helps in facilitating the registration process for students to participate in these placement drives.

The IIPC also organizes a Job fair annually called as “Launch” which aims at facilitating campus placements for students who have successfully completed their internships.

It is also open for our alumni students and for the outsiders. This ensures that students have opportunities for seamless avenues.

Job Notifications and Opportunities:

The Job descriptions & the job opportunities are shared with the students via various communication channels, apart from which the placement module of the GRMS (Garden City Resource Management System) our University ERP is actively used.

The JDs are uploaded and the students of the respective discipline who are eligible for the JD are mapped so that the student gets to apply through our GRMS Portal.
Apart from the above the job avenues are posted on our university website to notify the students and a hyperlink to our GRMS is tagged to the same.

IIPC also has created a Company directory called as “IIPC Partners Directory” A pdf of the same is shared with the department placement coordinators who would share the same with the students.
The Company directory would be updated periodically.

Industry Engagement and Networking:

IIPC: The Industry Institute partnership cell builds and maintains a constant relationship & partnership with various industries, organizations, and Institutes by signing a memorandum of understanding which gives an added edge for the students to make use of resources and expertise from the Company set up for better practical exposure to an actual work environment.

Many activities are also conducted in association with these companies under the banner of GCU & the company which further enhances the exposure and acquaintance of the students to these Companies & Institutes.

The MoU also cater to the internship placements for the students.

To connect with the IIPC-GCU

Mr Srinivas Prasad

Director – Industry Relations
srinivas.prasad@gardencity.university

There are Department placement coordinators as well who are the felicitators of the complete flow of the activities at the department level. Apart from them there are mentors for every ten students who would monitor the work progress of the students in the companies by coordinating with the guides in the company. They would have online meetings fortnightly to mentor the students even during their internship, and intervene when required so that the internships happen smoothly/
The IIPC of Garden City University is one of its kind with a motto to give the best Industrial exposure to students and groom them to become Industry ready and get totally equipped to face the work sphere after they graduate from here.

These are the companies we are associated with to mention a few:
