Bachelor of Science Psychology

Psychology is a branch of science that deals with the study of the mind. It encompasses various aspects that determine how people feel, think, and act, such as biological influences, environmental or contextual factors, and social pressures.

The Bachelor of Science, Psychology programme at GCU, equips students to gain a deeper understanding of psychology to understand other people so that they can guide people and offer them an insight into their actions.

Since psychology is both an applied and academic field it has major implications on individuals, and also society as a whole. At GCU, students are taught to use objective, scientific methods, so that they can understand, explain, and even predict human behaviour to the best of their abilities.

Psychology’s primary application is in the field of mental health, where the graduates can use the knowledge acquired through the undergraduate programme at GCU to help their patients manage, or overcome the symptoms of psychological illness.

Other applications where psychologists can play an important role include developing educational programs, understanding child development, research, performance enhancement, ergonomics, and social program design.

Entry Requirements

Basic eligibility for the programme is a pass with minimum 55% at the +2 level (Karnataka PUC / ISC / CBSE / NIOS / State Boards) in any stream (Humanities, Social Sciences, Commerce & Management, Sciences) from any recognised Board in India.

The admission process is based on the courses offered at the UG and PG level.
The student goes online, fills the application with required details and files the same online for registering for the programme of choice. This will be accompanied by paying a registration fee as mentioned in the application form.
However, if the student needs any clarification, be it regarding the programme of choice or GCU as a University, entry criteria etc, the counsellors at the University are just a call away.
Once the registration process is completed, the admissions department shall communicate on further documents required and fee to be paid for the programme of choice.
Post the above process the student shall submit their original certificate to the registrar’s office for validation and verification. After enrolment the student shall voluntarily apply for GCU’s talent test which shall be the criteria for availing scholarship for the first year of study. Such talent test shall be conducted year on year to encourage studious students and also set the criteria for a UG student to be the most favoured student of choice for PG programmes. Apply Now
