Garden City University (GCU) presents another engaging session of the IGNITE – GCU Expert Talk Series, featuring an exploration of how one of Karnataka’s most vibrant traditional art forms can be reimagined for a new generation.
Yakshagana is more than a traditional theatre form—it is a rich synthesis of dance, music, dialogue, storytelling, elaborate costumes and cultural memory. But as audiences and modes of engagement change, an important question emerges: How can traditional art forms remain relevant and engaging for Gen Z without losing their cultural essence?
The IGNITE session, “From Tradition to Innovation: Reimagining Yakshagana for Gen Z,” will examine the possibilities of taking Yakshagana beyond conventional spaces and formats. The session will explore how creativity, contemporary storytelling, technology and new approaches to audience engagement can help connect this centuries-old tradition with today’s young audiences.
