The heart of this programme lies in the study of Comparative Literature, where students explore the connections and disparities between literary traditions across the globe. “Comparative Literature: Principles and Methods” introduces students to the intricacies of cross-cultural literary analysis, emphasizing concepts such as literary translation, adaptation, and the role of culture in shaping narratives.
As students progress through the programme, they engage in advanced courses in Literary Theory and Criticism, Contemporary Literary Trends, specialized comparative literature topics (Cultural Studies, Translation Studies, Eco-Literature) honing their analytical skills and acquiring a nuanced understanding of different critical approaches. Topics range from structuralism to feminism, enabling students to critically engage with texts, dissect narratives, and interpret underlying themes and socio-cultural contexts.
In their final year, students are encouraged to undertake a capstone internship project or thesis, delving into a chosen area of study with in-depth research and critical analysis. This culminating experience enables them to demonstrate their mastery of literary scholarship and engage in meaningful discourse within the field.
