The Department of Management Studies, School of Commerce and Management, Garden City University organized an expert session titled “Classroom to Corporate — Classroom Learning to Corporate Finance: Understanding Real-World Accounting Applications” on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The session was conducted by Mr. Anderson Monish, Senior Associate Auditor at First American Financial Corporation, with the objective of bridging the gap between classroom theory and real-world corporate practices in accounting and finance, and highlighting the practical tools and software skills required before graduation.
The interactive session engaged first-year MBA students and focused on changing market expectations, differences between academic learning and corporate applications, the impact of AI on freshers, and employer expectations. Mr. Anderson also addressed common misconceptions about placements and shared valuable career guidance, including the importance of internships, networking, time management, and continuous learning. The session helped students clearly understand the skills required to be job-ready and motivated them to focus on practical exposure and skill development to enhance their employability and placement readiness.
