Although, it is very early to respond to this question, the scenario looks like there may be extension of dates for the commencement of the academic year. As much to avoid any academic loss, Universities such as us have taken the lead of creating a robust system of online delivery of classes, which takes care of attendance as well as to compute continuous internal assessment. Hence, even though the dates of physical contact classes might depend on the instructions of the government, the students will not be at loss.

Yes, it is mandatory to complete the registration process now. Although it is not clear as to when the physical contact classes are going to begin, once you complete the admission formalities you will get access to your learning portal and the course would commence with online classes.

Yes, you will be given access to your learning portal at Garden City University through which you can attend online classes. However, you will have to register and complete the admission formalities pending announcement of the results of your qualifying examination.

There was only one alternative, which is to build a robust digital ecosystem and deliver classes through online. Garden City University has successfully managed to complete the syllabi of the current semester through online modes. The repositories are ready until January 2021. Online proctored video classes, teachers self-video, PowerPoint presentation with voice over, Google forms test and GCU's own portal for submission and evaluation of assignments are the major academic highlights as of now.

We don't see any reason that you shouldn't do it, but lifting the lockdown completely on educational institutions across the world might take some time. We intend to begin classes from 17th July 2020. You could apply for cancellation until 30th July 2020 and the fees paid will be refunded.

It is really early to comment on the lockdown; however, if situation worsens, there may be extension and even if lockdown is lifted, across the world it will still be a graded lockdown where in educational institutions, malls, entertainment zones and religious establishments may not function full- fledged. So the idea of cancelling admissions may not be the right thing to do since across the world online classes would be the only hope to begin with.

Yes, owing to the request of a few students for whom accessing banking facilities have been difficult, we have extended time line for fee payment by two weeks.

We can provide you with two options: -

  1. You could pay a portion of the first year fees to confirm admission (Rs 25000) and we will send you the necessary documents that a bank would require to process the loan.

We are well aware of the current situation. You could attend your examination and post the results announced, you could join the physical contact classes. At present it is a phase of innovation and hence quite an improvement is expected in terms of delivery of education in the near future. The process of admission is very simple. Owing to the current situation, you could begin with the enrolment process which leads you to a confirmed admission of the desired course offered at GCU on payment of Rs 25,000/- (if you are a student who has studied in India) or US $ 500 (if you are an International student or an NRI student). Further to this you will be provided to access GCU-ATOM through which you can attend the classes online. Once the lock down is lifted you could pay the balance fees of the first year and submit the documents to attend the on campus classes.

By enrolling for a programme of your choice at GCU, you are not going to face any kind of academic loss as you would be attending the syllabi that is covered in the first semester. Also seamlessly you will be able to transit into the on campus classes once the lock down is shifted. However if you are keen to take up only GCU-ATOM, we will award you with a Diploma for which you will have to complete 2 credits on campus classes after the lockdown and appear for the examinations by paying the requisite fee. Since GCU follows the modular system prescribed by UGC, you will get an exit at the end of semester one leading to a Diploma.

Even though it is a second option, you should enroll for the first semester of your desired programme at GCU and if you intend to exit the programme by completing 2 credits on campus classes you will be awarded a Diploma. After which you may explore medical or engineering programmes. At the same time if you do not succeed in your efforts to get into the right institution, you can still continue into the second semester of the earlier programme that you were pursuing at GCU.

If you wish to cancel the enrolment before 30th July, the money paid will be refunded.



FAQ's about GCU

Garden City University is a 28-year-old institution and INTERDISCIPLINARY in nature. The University has eight Schools under it offering courses from Diploma to Bachelor to Post graduation to Phd. The university has students from 81 different countries and every state and union territory in India. The University has the Unique mix of Arts, Science and Management Education offered with Technology as the base. Be it Media studies, Life Sciences or Hotel Management, emphasis is on Practical education with the aid of technology tools to enhance learning and equip a student to work with the industry. The admission process is based on the courses offered at the UG and PG level.

The student goes online, fills the application with required details and files the same online for registering for the programme of choice. This will be accompanied by paying a registration fee as mentioned in the application form.

However, if the student needs any clarification, be it regarding the programme of choice or GCU as a University, entry criteria etc, the counsellors at the University are just a call away.

Once the registration process is completed, the admissions department shall communicate on further documents required and fee to be paid for the programme of choice.

Post the above process the student shall submit their original certificate to the registrar’s office for validation and verification. After enrolment the student shall voluntarily apply for GCU’s talent test which shall be the criteria for availing scholarship for the first year of study. Such talent test shall be conducted year on year to encourage studious students and also set the criteria for a UG student to be the most favoured student of choice for PG programmes.

The University runs its own hostels for boys and girls separately. The hostels are in the vicinity of the campus with automated entry and further secure measures. More details on the hostel, fees and terms and conditions may be availed from the admissions office.

The GCU campus is located within city limits in K.R.Puram which is 12 minutes’ drive from Baiyappannahalli metro station, 3 mins walk from T.C.Palya bus stand, 10 minutes from the K.R.Puram Railway station.

Students who travel from outside of Bangalore can opt for a 45 minutes’ drive from the airport to the campus or an equivalent time from the Bangalore City central station or the adjoining bus stand to the campus.
