Programme accreditation

The Legal Studies program is designed to provide students with a sociological and cultural understanding of law. Although we typically think of law as an abstract set of rules primarily of concern to courts, legal professionals, or criminalized individuals, socio-legal perspectives draw attention to how much the law influences our daily lives, interpersonal interactions, and identities.

The School of legal studies is led by a legal luminary our Vice - Chancellor Prof. V.B. Coutinho, former Director of Professional legal studies, Bar Council of India.

Faculty of Law at Garden City University emphasizes on teaching based on high-quality, topical research. The Faculty aims to educate students for demanding national and international duties that call for legal expertise. It is also an international hub of legal studies with corporate and Business law at the forefront. The department aims at producing many legal luminaries, Supreme Court and High Court judges, advocates, political leaders and policy makers.

The members of faculty in the department have been pioneers in developing new fields of law like Intellectual Property, Environmental law, Human Rights education, Gender sensitivity; uplifting women and poverty alleviation for the whole country.

A candidate for admission to B.A LL.B.(Hons) and B.Com LL.B.(Hons) Five Year Integrated Law Degree Programme has to qualify 10+2 Intermediate or equivalent thereto, and the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for that academic year. The Candidates will be admitted strictly in accordance with the merit secured at the entrance examination.

Under Graduate Programme (5 Years Integrated)

  • BA LLB
  • B Com LLB

  • Eligibility Criteria: Pass in 10+2 or equivalent with Common Law Admission Test (CLAT)

    *Bar Council of India approval awaited in April/May 2018.

Post Graduate Programme

  • LLM - Alternative Dispute Resolution / Business and Trade Law (1 Year)
  • LLM (Vacation) - Criminal Law & Procedures / Property & Real Estate Law (2 Years)

  • Eligibility Criteria: BCI approved LL.B. Degree (3 or 5 year courses) with 50% marks or above.
